Rise of the Runelords (Anniversary Edition)
Rise of the Runelords (Anniversary Edition) – by One Mad Wookiee
We’ve just concluded my very first full-length campaign using the Pathfinder Adventure Path, Rise of the Runelords (Anniversary Edition). My purpose here is to document the highlights of the game experience beyond the published content. This is not intended to be a regurgitation of the events of RotRL:AE, but a basic knowledge of the campaign themes (and of the Pathfinder RPG) is useful for context.
I’d also like to mention that it is both coincidence and not coincidence that my username is Obsidian. At the inception of Obsidian Portal, I had been using the moniker of “Obsidian” for cRPGs and what passed for online gaming in the 1990s, ever since Virtual World Entertainment brought the Battletech simulation pods to Circle Center Mall in downtown Indianapolis. When asked what I wanted my “call sign” to be, I went through a couple of (rather lame) options before settling on Obsidian.
Naturally when I heard that Obsidian Portal was recruiting new users, I nabbed the username. I’m honestly surprised (and pleased) it still exists after all these years.
